Perception and Attribution Videos
Social Perception
This video exemplifies social perception very well. It examines several stereotypes: Punks, Preps, Jocks, Nerds, and Burnouts. Appearance is everything!
External Locus of Control
Lindsay Lohan does a fantastic job of portraying a girl with an external locus of control - she believes that the world controls her, and everything is out of her hands.
Knorr Stock Cubes
The woman's husband is under the impression that she spends hours going to select the finest ingredients for her soup and therefore she is devoted to him and her role as a housewife - meanwhile she is out enjoying adult entertainment. Because her soup is so good, he does not question why his wife is gone for so long shopping for ingredients.
Planters Commercial
All the men are attracted to what seems to be an unattractive woman because she smells like Planters Cashews. Smells can contribute to a strong first impression that is difficult to shake.
Susan Boyle - Singer - Britain's Got Talent 2009 (With Lyrics)
Simon's first impression of this contestant was that she was going to be a joke, but as soon as she starts singing... He realizes that his expectations were all wrong. Simon and the crowd created an initial impression of her based on her looks until she showed them the radical fact that she could sing extremely well which altered their perception of her by the end of her performance.
How Your Perception Evolve
This video is another example of perception. It shows how images are not always what they seem and how they can have more than one meaning in the same image.
Andrew Johnston on Britain's Got Talent
He seems very shy so you wouldn't have a high of an expectation of his talent. Also he's a boy, so the style of music is very unexpected. We have pre-conceived ideas of how boys would sing and this guy definitely breaks the mold.
Fundamental Attribution Error
This is a cute video made in the UK about how the fault of the accident can be attributed 100% to the driver from an outside perspective, even though it was partly the child's fault for running out in front of the car. The video helps explain this concept.
